CAMACOL TOWER

The Chamber of Commerce of  U.S.A.(CAMACOL)  celebrated the 

inauguration of  their new building , located at 1401 West Flagler Street, Miami, a modern and efficient facility with 100 apartments for senior of  low and medium income.   

Within the framework  of the Hemispheric Congress of Latin Chambers of Commerce and Industry, a number of activities are held at this time.  The first photo shows the Hon. CAMACOL  a deep-rooted tradition of  MIAMI

CAMACOL will  celebrate its 45^th Anniversary. CAMACOL  is the largest  Hispanic chamber of commerce in the State of Florida and one of the most reputable and successful  in the United States. The 45^5h Anniversary will be  celebrated with  an important event on the 26^th of September, 2009, when the newly elected Board of  Directors will be sworn.  Also a group of the most distinguished businessmen in our community will be awarded.

45  years are  representative to a lifetime of  services to an individual or an institution,  especially when a city of  County as young Miami-Dade.  CAMACOL being the oldest in the State of  Florida and the most important in the United States is very  special because even when  promoting 

the Hemispheric Congress of Latin Chambers of Commerce and Industry a main advocate of economic  integration with a strong presence in the international trade mainly in Latin America and the hemisphere, supports and encourages the development of  Miami-Dade county, the State of Florida and facilitates the participation in diverse services to benefit business directly through  membership accounts.

There are many other economic and social activities where CAMACOL is involved, which we will explain later,  since today’s topic is above all  the inauguration of  CAMACOL Tower.

With a  warm and emotional ceremony the Board of Directors celebrated a  pre-inauguration of  the new offices of   CAMACOL, the “CAMACOL Tower” built by the prestigious firm Pinnacle  Housing Group.

Our offices will be located at the CAMACOL  Tower, located at the corner of Flagler and 14^th  Avenue, where we will continue seeking greater efficiency and productivity and  where 100 families  of low and medium income will enjoy the benefit of the assistance program in the present economic crisis.  This represents our legacy to  Miami, where we have resided over four decades and where we will continue our goodwill community service to foster commercial growth and social development of the South Florida community and promote  international trade.

Manuel Balado, ex president and founder of CAMACOL, told about his experiences  throughout the last 44 years when it started  with just 80 members. Mario O.  Gutierrez first vice president anticipated us  that the Christmas Baskets distribution will take place at this location, which we expect  to inaugurate during the first trimester of 2010;  meanwhile Wifredo “Willy” Gort expressed his gratitude to the Chief of  Police of Miami, Chief John F. Timoney, Deputy Chief Frank G. Fernandez, and the Chief of Police of Little Havana, Mayor Steven Caceres and his staff, for their continuous  support and collaboration.

Hon. Commissioners Bruno A. Barreiro of Miami-Dade County and Joe M. Sanchez, of the City of Miami praised the excellent work of  CAMACOL in favor of the Little Havana  Community.

Apart from the Directors of CAMACOL we were accompanied by several local businesses who also expressed their gratitude and support to the programs of CAMACOL  and the Hemispheric Congress of Latin Chambers of Commerce and Industry  whose Permanent Secretariat will meet again in Bogota, Colombia from September 30^th   through October 3^rd, 2009.

We are very happy, but not entirely satisfied with our work.    We feel happy because we know we are an integral part of this City of Miami, where we feel we have  built a deep-rooted tradition of  love and support, and where we will continue working effortless in supporting a bright and prosperous future for our community and State, with the common objective to make  Miami, the “Capital of the Americas.”

La Cámara de Comercio Latina, (CAMACOL) inauguró el viernes su nuevo edificio en Miami, 1401 West Flagler Street, una moderna y amplia edificación que además de dotar a esa institución con eficientes oficinas centrales, cuenta con varios pisos de con 100 apartamentos de alquileres módicos como un servicio más de esa institución a la comunidad. En el marco del Congreso Hemisférico de Cámaras de Comercio, que celebra diversas actividades en esta fecha. Muy cercanamente CAMACOL cuimplirá 44 años de fructiíera vida institucional. Lo celebraremos con un gran acto el dίa 26 de septiembre de este 2009.en el que será juramentada la nueva Junta de Gobierno, producto de la libre elección de su membresίa. En este acto también será premiado un grupo de empresarios que se han destacado en las actividades económicas dentro de nujestra comunidad.

44 años de vida son muy importantes para toda persona o institución, sobre todo en una ciudad y un condado joven como lo es Miami-Dade. Piénsese que CAMACOL es la Cámara Hispana de Comercio más antigua del Estado de la Florida y una de la más importante de los Estados Unidos de América. CAMACOL es una cámara muy especial porque mientras organiza el Congreso Hemisferico de Cámaras de Comercio e Industria Latinas con el objetivo primario de promover la actividad del comercio internacional de Miami con todo el mundo y muy especialmente con la América Latina, propendiendo asi al desarrollo del Condado de Miami Dade, el Estado La Florida y beneficiando a esta gran nación, se ocupa de participar en las más diversas actividades domésticas que benefician directamente a su membresίa.

En otra oportunidad nos detendremos más en enumerar las muchas actividades económicas y sociales en la que se involucra CAMACOL, con un arraigo total a la comunidad de Miami-Dade, hoy me complace sobremanera hablar de CAMACOL TOWER.

Con la Junta de Gobierno de la CAMACOL, realizamos un sencillo y muy emocionante acto de pre inauguración de lo que constituirá la nueva sede de la CAMACOL, la “CAMACOL TOWER” construida por la prestigiosa firma Pinnacle Housing Group, LLC.

CAMACOL TOWER, ubicado en la tradicional esquina de Flagler y la 14 Avenida, albergará nuestras oficinas, adecuadas al ritmo de los tiempos y 100 apartamentos para personas de bajos y medianos recursos mayores de 55 años. Este será nuestro legado y con ellos nos solidarizamos una vez más con Miami, donde hemos estado por más de cuatro décadas y donde mantendremos nuestra labor de permanente contenido económico, comunitario y social.

Manuel Balado, ex presidente y fundador de la CAMACOL, se refirió al camino recorrido desde que se fundó esta Cámara hace 44 años, con apenas 80 miembros. Mario Gutiérrez, primer vice presidente, anticipó que la próxima entrega de las Jabas Navideñas se hará desde este local, el cual espramos inaugurar durante el primer trimestre del 2010; mientras que Wifredo “Willy” Gort apreció la presencia y continua colaboración del Jefe de la Policía de la Ciudad de Miami, Chief John F. Timoney, del Deputy Chief Frank G. Fernández, así como del Jefe de la Policía de Little Havana, Major Steven Cáceres y su personal.

Los comisionados Bruno A. Barreiro, del Condado de Miami Dade y Joe M. Sánchez, de la Ciudad de Miami, enaltecieron la labor social de la CAMACOL a favor de los residentes de la Pequeña Habana. Además de los Directores de la Junta de Gobierno nos acompañaron diversas representacioones de la sociedad civil quienes igualmente nos mostraron su solidaridad con los programas internos y el Congreso Hemisférico de Cámaras de Comercio e Industrias Latinas, cuya Secretarίa Permanente se reunirá nuevamente en Bogotá Colombia del 30 de septiembre al 3 de octubre 2009.

Estamos muy contentos, pero no del todo satisfechos con la labor realizada. Nos sentimos felices porque sabemos que formamos parte, una buena parte de este Miami, al que nos hemos arraigado con amor y con pasión y por el que continuaremos trabajando, sin prisa, pero sin pausa, con el objetivo común de hacer de Miami la Capital de Las Américas.
